Seems Ken is very focused on the police and trying to get Asia back... And Asia can't seem to say anything to help...

Well, this will surely be a rich, fulfilling phone call filled with conclusive emotional closure and absolutely no loose ends...

At least a question she can answer completely.
Although i have my doubt on the 'safe' aspect of the place

I think Asia's general lack of emotion with the others compared to her emotionality here is only partly due to social difficulties. I'm going to hazard a guess that she is more emotional, though I'm not sure to what degree, with those she is close to.

@IceAngelRae: 'cute' is not the word I'd use. More like depressingly sad...

I find the comment 'not the same group' to be very interesting. It could mean that she doesn't think Amical put her in the crate, but I don't think that is correct. This is going back to some of the information we have from Asia's blog, but I think he is referring to a group that held her captive previously. I am of the opinion that Asia was raised by a guardian of the veil cult which emphasized leaving identity behind. This explains the masks in her flashback, her lack of a birth name, and possibly some of her difficulty with magic. Thoughts?

@Ethrenal: No I imagine that it has to deal with something along the lines of "I didn't mean this to happen AGAIN", so she may of ran into trouble before with something? Maybe her parents?

@Zakanakai: As Asia and Ken hail originally from the Lodgeworld series, some clues to her past may be found there. Here's the summary for
"Brotherhood: Anonymous": "Reporter Ken Ellis finds himself tied up in a story regarding cults who abduct young children and raise them to revile the ideals of parenthood. In his investigations he meets Brother Seven, a child abducted so early on in life that she does not know of life outside of the cult." Her flashback HERE clearly reflects this to some degree, though how the Brotherhood manifests itself in MorphE canon beyond that is unclear.

*breathes* Okay, let me try again. First off, Craig received a similar question on Tumblr and responded here: -square

But since I'm the one who wrote the story, let me clarify a little further. Craig and I have been writing lodgeworld stories since 2003-2004ish. I dunno, it's been a long-ass time XD I introduced Asia as a minor character in 2008, and because of how she and Ken got along, we ended up keeping her around in the main cast.

morphE was my first leap into tabletop gaming in February 2011. Instead of doing the smart person thing and creating a new character from scratch, I nabbed Asia from Lodgeworld and modded her to fit the Mage: The Awakening mold. In retrospect, it was easier for me to figure out the rules without dealing with an entirely new character at the same time, but DAMN that was a noob move, and for like half the campaign, it showed.

I wrote Brotherhood Anonymous for NaNoWriMo in 2011, and morphE came to a close in November 2012. Asia's character changed significantly in that year between; as Alexis revealed more of her overall plot to us, the result revised a LOT of what I'd independently written. Now that HER game has become OUR comic, morphE Asia is a far cry from where she originally started.

tl;dr: Burningtyger is doing the correct thing and looking at Lodgeworld tropes as clues into morphE, and not actual canon. I'm seriously thrilled that all y'all are looking so deep into our comic! :D
