So is he more upset about the paintings, or that someone who was able to break his spells got into his house?

Mindsword2 (Guest), August 9th, 2014, 3:05 pm     Reply

Mysterio is some sort of anti mage then. His purpose was (maybe) to disrupt the spells on the painting and probably to prove to Amical that he could break in.

Well, it does show the seedlings one possible escape route.

@D3c3nd4n7: It sounds like both. The second is the one that should probably concern our heroes. @ Mindsword2 So essentially he's trying to fuck with Amical's' mind.

Amical is super po'd... those paintings must've been more important than the seedlings realize. Seems to me like they were enchanted with something... possibly some odd benign spell. Pretty sure the spray paint was used to disrupt or break the spells, but Mysterio did it out of spite, right? What with Amical's "adventurous" social life, he might be someone that got hurt by Amical and came back to hurt him.

Off-topic and unrelated
Just as an FYI, you guys should totally start talking to History channel. They're making a show called Pawnography.

@Don Quixotes: Someone mentioned this on the blog for us to reply to in character and I haven't gotten to answering it yet. BUT AUGH YES I'M SO ANNOYED.

The story of me thinking up what the title of Billy's show would be called I was like "huh it needs to be like one of those sleezy A&E reality shows... I want it to be a chess related name... I know that there's a show about Pawn Shops called Pawn Stars..." And then I giggled and said "It should be Pawnography." and Alexis is like "Really? Haha! Yeah I imagine Billy demanding this ridiculous inappropriate name..."

And we laugh yadda yadda, all because we really couldn't imagine someone actually going that tasteless in real life. So I thought, yes this is a safe title for his show, there CAN'T be a show named this in reality.

I was wrong. I am disappoint. And if we ever try to sell this comic somehow I might have to change the name of his dumb TV show augh.... History channel, you used to have content. Now you have a show about Aliens and a portmanteau of pornography about resale stores. I'm just... No words.

@ChibiSilverWings: keep it.

@burningtyger: I don't plan to change it unless we have someone hassling us about it legally. BUT STILL.

@ChibiSilverWings: Bi-shopual? King's Mate? I dunno, it's hard to mix sleazy and chess.

Honestly, there IS a History channel involving legit history, H2, but it's not part of the usual channel packages...just like how Discovery offloaded all the science, nature and culture stuff into 3 different channels! God, greed sucks and has ruined TV.

@Don Quixotes: I think the statistics for TV for my age group (ie 18-30 year olds right now) is something pretty grim to look at for TV execs. Almost everyone I know my age doesn't bother having TV. Our tele-communications/internet stuff in America as is is pretty effed up.

But yeah, "Check me Out" or something? Haha

@Don Quixotes: His most famous chess book is called "Brilliancy!" and I suppose I could do that. But it doesn't have the trashiness to it then. Just the chess joke and the arrogance.

@ChibiSilverWings: I think H2 has Ancient Aliens on it actually, at least sometimes... Have you checked out Mnet , MHZ world view, or Science Channel? I like PBS frankly. But yeah, don't worry about the name now.

Also Flux dressed up today, though it seems she was interrupted, as neither her purple sash nor pearl necklace are on straight... Are the earrings new? Amical's bow seems as depressed as he is, though apparently it was crooked all of yesterday too. It just resonates with his expression at the moment.

@burningtyger @ChibiSilverWings: Yeah, H2 is the one with Ancient Aliens.

Delving a bit more into it, apparently History and H2 are both part of the A&E Network Group. I haven't had cable since 2008, so I don't know what that means for myself, but Chelsea mentioned A&E up above so yeah, FUN TRIVIA FACT TIME

@Shadowednavi @burningtyger @Don Quixotes: Ah-ha! That doesn't surprise me as much as I wish it did haha they both hae a ton of just... reality show dregs.

I admit freely though that I watch a TON of trash TV. So. Guilty of destroying television. That's me.

Though I haven't had television since 5+ years ago in our college dorms. My parents have cable though, so when I go down to visit, I sneak a glance at the freefall of television quality.

As for PBS, I love documentaries and stuff, so PBS usually still has stuff like that if I recall right. And since I know he made these for PBS, I do LOVE Ken Burns documentaries and I've watched most of his documentaries 3 times, even the 9-10 hour ones. Though I haven't finished Jazz, and I still can't get myself into the Baseball one. Let's suffice it to say if for some reason Ken Burns ever made a history of chess documentary, I would be the happiest human to exist and my soul would burn up into a fiery rainbow of joy!

@burningtyger: You're right! Now in the morphE world Ken Burns totally made a chess documentary. Now I just have to figure out how to get into that world so I can watch it. Except being a mortal in the World of Darkness sucks! But it'd be worth it.

@sythiar: Thanks for letting us know! In this case, that's what usually gets coded on here if the next page isn't up yet when he's coding. Craig'll fix it soon :)

First frame:

"Amical began pacing the hallway frantically. His eyes darting back between the ruined paintings and his assembled guard."

The second sentence is a sentence fragment. If it's meant to be part of the first sentence it should read "frantically, his" where they join. Otherwise "darting" should be "darted" to make that a complete sentence.

Also, eyes usually dart back and forth, not just back. Gives them a wider range of motion. ;)

So here's my final guess about the paintings. From the start I've had a "Picture of Dorian Gray" about these paintings. And now that I know Amical deals with time magic, my assumption is that the pictures slow down his aging process. He's got to be older than he looks, just from how young he looks and how long it would seem he's been in his "gardening" business.

Furthermore, I assume the more paintings he has means the slower he ages. So when some of his paintings are destroyed, he actually starts to age faster (but still very slow relative to normal). That is why he is so angry.
