Gotta say I'm with Sam on this one. For all his charm, Amical literally runs a cartel, and you kind of lose your "For the greater good!" credibility when you host murder-parties.

@G.: For anyone else, you'd probably have a point. Thing is, Amical is a mage, and magic can be very tricky business.

One of the major themes in Mage: the Awakening is that actions have consequences. While there's no excuse for Amical hosting murder-parties and he should be stopped, one cannot simply ignore his motivations for doing so.

Consider this: perhaps Amical is keeping a demon fed by sacrificing the people who die in his murder-parties so that it doesn't go on a rampage. Stopping Amical with no regard for that would end in a catastrophe.

While I don't think it's likely that's what Amical is doing, it does point out that just stopping Amical with guns blazing could have very bad consequences.

@Epicarp: Oh, definitely. At the barest minimum it'd be important to find out how his operation deals with that spirit lair that the Seedlings started up in.
The fact remains that he's a solipsistically self-righteous lunatic with a cadre of enablers and a smirking disregard for human life, and by far the best way to attend to whatever good such a person might inadvertently do is over his dead body.
God, that guy's fun to hate :)

HYENA'S RULE #8; Always learn the villain's motive
It might haunt you if you don't. (Might haunt you if you do)

I've been on both sides of that rule when it broke, and it can hurt.

Imagine fighting and killing a (Stereotypical and unrealistic) Aztec priest, only to find out that those sacrifices really were what keeps the sun from going out.

My experience with that rule thankfully wasn't that severe, but in the World of Darkness, you need to keep the worst case in mind.

@G.: And yeah, we all have fun hating Amical. Or Shane, if he's still able to be called that?

(In case someone asks, yes there's an actual set of rules I keep)

@The_Hyena_King: Indeed, not to mention the power vacuum they leave -- Harry Dresden might care to comment on that one...
